Description
This 1859 Canadian one-cent copper coin features a laureate portrait of Queen Victoria on the obverse and the denomination and date within a maple leaf wreath on the reverse. The coin exhibits a significant broken planchet mint error, characterized by a substantial portion of metal missing from the upper edge. This manufacturing defect occurs when the planchet is fractured or incomplete prior to or during the striking process. The coin is housed in a cardboard and plastic flip with handwritten identification and notes. Catalog reference KM# 1. Fine condition. The coin displays moderate circulation wear consistent with age. Surfaces exhibit dark brown toning. The major structural defect is an as-struck mint error.
