A 1960 Canadian 10-cent coin struck in 80 percent silver, identified as a broadstrike mint error. This piece was struck without a restraining collar, causing the planchet to expand beyond its intended diameter and resulting in a flat, unmilled edge. The obverse features the laureate portrait of Elizabeth II with the legend ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA. The reverse features the Bluenose schooner design with the inscriptions CANADA, 1960, and 10 CENTS. The coin is housed in a vintage 2x2 cardboard flip with handwritten notations identifying the error as oversized and struck without a restraining collar. The reverse of the holder contains historical provenance notes regarding a past trade involving a 1937 10-cent coin and additional currency. Uncirculated. The coin retains original mint luster with light scattered contact marks and minor peripheral toning. No evidence of circulation wear is present on the high points of the design.
