A CA Type 2 blank planchet, also known as a second stage blank, intended for the one-cent denomination. The planchet has undergone the upsetting process to create a raised rim but remains unstruck by coin dies. It is composed of a copper-colored metal alloy. Both the obverse and reverse faces are blank and devoid of any struck designs, portraits, or legends. The planchet is housed in a vintage cardboard 2x2 flip with a handwritten label in blue ink reading 2ND STAGE - CANADIAN BLANK. The planchet surfaces show light to moderate handling scratches and scuffing consistent with storage in a non-rigid holder. Minor surface toning and scattered oxidation are present. The staples on the cardboard holder are heavily rusted, with significant rust transfer and staining visible on the card stock.
