Prototyp der ersten Leica M Digitalkamera mit Vollformatsensor (CCD). Die Ausführung der Deckkappe entspricht baulich bereits der von der Leica M9, mit seitlicher Stufe und ohne LCD Bildzählwerk auf der Oberseite. Mittels dieser noch mit "M8" gravierten so getarnten Ausführungen wurden seinerzeit die ersten Feldtests durchgeführt. Die Zubehörklemme graviert "N0000030". Der Bodendeckel einer M8.2, mit Schutzfolie versehen.

Prototype of the first digital Leica M camera with full frame (CCD) image sensor. The topplate already corresponds to the design of that from the Leica M9, with the lateral step and without an LCD frame counter on the top. The first field tests were undertaken at the time using these camouflaged versions, still with "M8" engraving. Accessory clamp engraved "N0000030". The bottomplate of an M8.2 fitted with a protective foil.
