Description
The vintage Royal Copley ceramic cockatoo figurine was manufactured by the Spaulding China Company in Sebring, Ohio. Produced between 1939 and 1960, this highly collectible mid-century modern piece features a distinct glazed airbrushed palette with a deep teal-green crest, a pink speckled body, and yellow-accented tail feathers. The bird is depicted perched realistically atop a glossy brown tree stump base, which still retains most of its original metallic round Royal Copley foil sticker.
The colors were air brushed on. The glazes are shiny. The foot is unglazed. The white glazed base has a molded mark that reads Royal Copley.
MEASUREMENTS
8 in (20.3 cm) tall x 3 1/4 in (8.3 cm) wide. Weighs 1 lb 9.5 oz.
CONDITION
There are no breaks, chips, cracks, or repairs. The glaze has crazing, and there is wear along the edge of the foot.
