Gitanes is a brand of cigarettes produced by Seita, a subsidiary of the Imperial Brands group, created in 1910 at the same time as the Gauloises brand. In 2014, part of its production was relocated to Poland following the closure of the Seita plant in Nantes. The first Gitanes packages were designed in 1927 by Maurice Giot. This one represents Spanish symbols like the tambourine, a fan, and oranges. During the Second World War, the gypsy dancer embodies the brand, she and her large dress are designed by A. Molusson. The concept was taken up by Max Ponty in 1947, who partially masks the dancer in the volutes of smoke.
