ALS signed "A.I. Noel Byron" to Miss (Abigail) Tuckerman, dated Dec 13th (no year). Anna Isabella Milbanke (1792-1860), mathematician & heiress, married the poet Lord Byron in 1815, developed an interest in social work after Byron's death, befriended Rev Joseph Tuckerman of Boston on his 1833 trip to England, Abigail was his daughter; PLUS ALS from Nathaniel Bowditch (1773-1838), mathematician and navigator, dated Dec 16, 1831, Boston to Rev. Jos Tuckerman, Mount Vernon, Mass, giving $50 to aid "poor industrious females of correct habits". Rev. Joseph Tuckerman (1778-1840), Unitarian Minister, was the father of American social work. Both in 1930s Anderson Galleries folios. Good condition, laid to pages.
