The composition serves as a composite study of English Pointers in various hunting poses. It features a large, detailed profile portrait of a liver-and-white pointer head in the upper right quadrant. The middle register depicts two dogs on point in a field, one liver-and-white and one solid black. The bottom register shows a single liver-and-white pointer in full stride.
