7.5 and 5.5 in tall. A pair of vintage mid-20th-century Halloween jack-o-lantern candy buckets or lanterns. Both pieces are constructed of painted molded paper pulp and include original wire bail handles. The larger lantern features a stylized face with cut-out eyes and a wide open mouth, finished in orange paint with yellow highlights and black painted eyebrows. The base of the larger lantern retains a vintage rectangular paper retailer label for W. T. Grant Co. which includes the numbers 49, 163, and 8B 9H. The smaller lantern has a rounder form with a smiling face, cut-out eyes, and a small open mouth. It is finished in orange paint with a green-painted base. The number 35 is handwritten in black ink on the underside of the base.
