Description
6x6 This is a Singer Model 20 miniature sewing machine for children, commonly referred to as the Sewhandy. The machine features a black-enameled cast iron body and a nickel-plated steel bed plate. It operates via a hand-crank mechanism with an open-spoke handwheel that has a decorative swirling design. The internal gear system synchronizes the needle bar and feed dogs to produce a single-thread chain stitch. Identification marks include the word SINGER in gold-tone block letters on both sides of the upper arm. A circular gold-tone trademark decal is located on the base, featuring the text THE SINGER MANFG. CO. and TRADE MARK surrounding a central motif of a shuttle and crossed needles. The characters U. S. A. are printed in gold-tone script on the lower base. The machine is accompanied by a matching black-enameled cast iron C-clamp used for mounting the device to a table surface.
