Early 19th century kokutan (ebony) netsuke carved as twisting dragon in flight among clouds as it clutches a Tama (Precious Gem) in its front right paw. As any dark object does not photograph well, but is superbly carved out of excellent even grained ebony with its characteristic sheen from wear, has great presence, nicely chunky. Wonderful carving of its face, scales, and swirling clouds shapes. Length 2.11 inches.
