Ca. 600-1500 AD. Igneous magnetite. 3 1/4" high x 6 1/4" wide x 2 1/2" deep. The usual head form has been modified to represent a reclining ancestor. The front and back portions are carefully incised with abstract zoomorphic heads. The sides of the zemi platform are engraved with nicely rendered bird heads. The base is concave and polished.

Provenance: Private Atlanta, Georgia collection acquired from the Former collection of Katherine Harvey, Montecito, California (1911-1962).
