Additional Information: Early 20th century oak retail pen display cabinet with fitted Aikin Lambert dealer trays, original period packaging, and approximately 35 antique and vintage fountain pens, mechanical pencils, and desk pens.

The floor standing cabinet features an oak frame, glazed display compartment, rear access door, and enclosed lower storage section. Based on its construction and the fitted interior components, it likely dates from approximately the late 1910s through the 1920s. The back display and storage doors are locked. No key is present and no attempt has been made to force the lock on the storage compartment.

Four burgundy velvet ribbed wooden display trays fit the cabinet and retain original black embossed branding rails reading ALCo / Aikin-Lambert Co. The black rails appear to be molded hard rubber, ebonite, or a related early composition material rather than modern plastic.

The tray fit, matching layout, and surviving branded components strongly support attribution as an Aikin-Lambert dealer-use display. No manufacturers label has been located on the wooden cabinet itself, however, so it is described as attributed to Aikin-Lambert retail use rather than definitively factory-manufactured by the company.

The upper display is currently open. Its construction suggests that a horizontal glass top, removable lid, or similar closure was originally present and is now missing. No evidence has been found to confirm whether the cabinet originally carried an additional advertising header or sign.

Included with the cabinet are multiple original Aikin-Lambert empty pen boxes and dealer materials associated with the company's early-20th-century New York fountain-pen business. Packaging includes examples from several period product lines.

The writing instrument assortment includes approximately 35 pieces dating broadly from the early 1900s through the mid 20th century. The collection contains an ornate mother of pearl writing instrument, black chased hard rubber pens, marbled and striped celluloid pens, lever fill fountain pens, ring top and desk style instruments, metal and celluloid mechanical pencils, and advertising pencils.

Condition varies throughout the collection. Visible age and use may include scratches, discoloration, oxidation, tarnish, plating loss, ink residue, surface grime, missing trim, damaged or absent clips, cracks, repairs, and incomplete components.

No attempt has been made to force filling levers, operate early safety-style mechanisms, polish the metalwork, or aggressively clean the pens, trays, or cabinet.
