A handcrafted leather machete sheath holds 22 in sword produced in the Western or Central American folk tradition. The piece is constructed from a single section of heavy-duty, dark-toned leather, folded and secured with thick leather thong lacing along the leading edge. The throat of the sheath is embellished with a silver-toned metal concho featuring a scalloped flower motif. Suspended from the concho are three leather thong drops. Two drops are decorated with strands of black cylindrical beads, while the central drop features black beads terminating in a single red bead. The reverse side includes an integrated wide belt loop secured with yellow top-stitching. The profile is long and narrow, tapering to a slightly curved and pointed tip, characteristic of a sheath for a standard field machete.
