Description: American Renaissance Revival walnut sofa, attributed to John Jelliff and Company of Newark, New Jersey, circa 1870. The twin oval button-tufted backs rise beneath pierced crests centered by relief-carved helmeted classical profiles and flank an elaborate architectural center standard with an additional portrait medallion. Burl-walnut banding and contrasting foliate inlay ornament the frame, arms, and shaped apron, raised on ring-turned legs. Originally part of a matching three-piece parlor suite; see the pair of armchairs offered as Lot 133.

Condition
Later upholstery exhibits fading, surface wear, scattered soiling, and staining to the right side of the sofa seat. Frame retains an old surface with scattered scratches, rubbing, finish variation, small veneer or inlay imperfections consistent with age and use.
