The artist is a lifelong nature and geology enthusiast. She likes the textural, layered effects she can achieve with oil and cold wax, similar to weathered surfaces in wood and stone. Laurie was thrilled when her geologist friend commented that this painting looked like a volcano, without knowing the title! This painting is on gallery wrapped canvas, and is signed on the back.
