Description
19th-century hand-colored bird lithograph is based on an 1810 engraving by British artist and engraver J. Pass (active c. 1790–1832), originally published in the Encyclopaedia Londinensis. Known for his detailed copperplate illustrations, Pass captures various avian subjects titled Hirundo, Hispa, Hister, and Horia. The piece is housed in a brown wood frame measuring approximately 13 5/8 in. H x 11 1/2 in. W x 3/4 in. D, and displays some toning and buckling to the paper, along with wear to the frame consistent with age.
