Description
19th-century French etching with aquatint features soft colors and depicts figures on horseback in English equestrian dress, saddles, and tack. After the original composition by artist Vernet and titled Cheval Perdant La Course (The Horse Losing the Race), the piece is housed in a wood frame with gilt accents. Measuring approximately 12 in. H x 15 in. W x 5/8 in. D, the print shows toning throughout consistent with antique age, along with some wear to the frame.
