Provenance and Authentication:
According to the Letter of Authenticity (LOA) and Certificate of Authenticity (COA) provided by the consignor, this collectible was subjected to a forensic examination. The accompanying documentation states that the signatures were evaluated with reference to multiple characteristics, including ink deposition, material and aging characteristics, stylistic consistency, and historical context. Based on the examination described in these documents, the authentication provider concluded that the findings were consistent with the attributed signatures. The LOA and COA provided by the consignor accompany the lot.
A Bob Marley & The Wailers Uprising LP, bearing a handwritten inscription and Bob Marley signature on the upper portion of the front cover. The record is accompanied by its illustrated album sleeve, with the disc label identifying Uprising, Bob Marley & The Wailers, and Island Records.
Released in 1980, Uprising occupies an especially important position in Bob Marley's recording career. Issued during the final period of his life, the album includes such celebrated recordings as "Could You Be Loved" and "Redemption Song," and has become one of the defining releases associated with his musical and cultural legacy.
The inscription is positioned across the light-colored upper portion of the sleeve, providing a natural writing surface without obscuring the principal album artwork. The handwriting is rapidly executed with connected, abbreviated letterforms and a pronounced forward movement. The accompanying inscription and name display a fluid, informal quality consistent with the type of brief personalized greetings encountered on signed music memorabilia.
The significance of the album itself adds particular interest to the piece. Because Uprising was released in 1980 and Marley died in 1981, the period during which contemporary copies could have been signed by him was inherently limited. Signed examples associated with this final chapter of his career therefore hold particular appeal within Bob Marley and reggae memorabilia collecting.
As one of the most influential musicians of the twentieth century and the central international figure in the history of reggae, Bob Marley remains a major subject for music and cultural memorabilia collectors. A signed copy of Uprising combines his autograph with an album of exceptional biographical and musical relevance.
