12 1/4 x 12 1/4 in
Provenance and Authentication:
According to the Letter of Authenticity (LOA) and Certificate of Authenticity (COA) provided by the consignor, this collectible was subjected to a forensic examination. The accompanying documentation states that the signatures were evaluated with reference to multiple characteristics, including ink deposition, material and aging characteristics, stylistic consistency, and historical context. Based on the examination described in these documents, the authentication provider concluded that the findings were consistent with the attributed signatures. The LOA and COA provided by the consignor accompany the lot.
Released in 1978, Jazz occupies a distinctive place within Queen's catalogue, featuring enduring classics including Don't Stop Me Now, Fat Bottomed Girls, and Bicycle Race. Issued during one of the band's most creative periods, the album reflects Queen's remarkable versatility, combining theatrical rock, arena anthems, and sophisticated studio production.
The front cover bears signatures attributed to all four members of Queen. Each autograph displays characteristics commonly associated with the respective signer. Freddie Mercury's signature features his elongated flowing script and sweeping terminal flourish; Brian May's handwriting retains its tall, slightly inclined letterforms; Roger Taylor's signature is compact and fluid with confident connected strokes; while John Deacon's autograph presents the restrained, horizontally extended style frequently encountered on period examples. The signatures exhibit consistent ink flow, natural line variation, and uninterrupted writing rhythm without visible hesitation or deliberate retracing, corresponding closely with the band's established signing habits from the late 1970s.
Complete Queen-signed albums are considerably scarcer than single-member examples, particularly on significant studio releases from the classic Mercury era. Combining a desirable UK first edition pressing with four well-executed period-style signatures, this example represents an outstanding addition to collections devoted to Queen, classic rock, and music autographs.
