We are selling this very finely painted Veneto-Cretan school Mother of God Elousa Christian Icon. This beautiful Icon has very finely painted Mother of God and the Child on thick wood panel. The panel is 16th century and the madonna and child both have strange halo added. Several very similar panels, possibly by the same artist, have sold for 33,000 in Germany in 2018 and another one sold for 80,000 at Sotheby's in 2011.

Condition:Estate found condition. Craquelure on the surface with some losses to paint and heavy oxidation. Areas of wear to the gilded panel where halos might be. Some damages and losses to the panel including insect damages.
