Description
"Showing Shade" is an original watercolor on archival paper. Two sly figures, wildly gesturing, a wink and a nod, standoffish in tone, unstable push and pull dynamic.
BIOGRAPHY
As a native New Yorker, Joe Ginsberg studied painting and sculpture from an early age. Inspired by the tides of nature, his paintings are frequently created outdoors, incorporating and reflecting the effects of prolonged exposure to the elements. His works often weather naturally, revealing the unexpected, organic disposition of environmental chemistry, reflecting earth's natural patina and patterns of time. What he refers to as "Electric Nature." Robert Mahoney, a veteran art critic observed "If his images seem to want to jump off the canvas, it is because they have been worked on by nature herself ... the weathering works like a decorative enzyme that encourages tidal surges of mirages"
Joe Ginsberg studied textile design at Fashion Institute of Technology, graphic design at The School of Visual Arts, filmmaking at NYU and printmaking at Pratt Institute where he went on to teach this medium as well.
