Gelatin silver print with a beautiful ornamental overpainting in white paint within the image, printed later, in good condition. Framed in a black wooden frame with museum glass, approx. 68 × 52.5 cm. Signed, dated and annotated in black ink on the upper image "Picasso at Fréjus 1964 (with Cordobes / Lucien Clergue + Jerome Hill) Peter Beard, Box 4191 Nbi.". The famous photograph shows Picasso from a low angle, behind a bullfighter's richly embroidered jacket. As a result, the image feels less like a traditional artist's portrait and more like a spontaneous, almost cinematic observation. Picasso appears alert and focused, whilst the ornamentation of the costume forms a dramatic foreground.

Das berühmte Foto zeigt Picasso aus einer tiefen Perspektive hinter der reich bestickten Jacke eines Toreros. Dadurch wirkt die Aufnahme weniger wie ein klassisches Künstlerporträt als eine spontane, fast filmische Beobachtung. Picasso erscheint aufmerksam und konzentriert, während die Ornamente der Tracht einen dramatischen Vordergrund bilden.
