Givenchy three-piece ensemble featuring a red leather blazer, shirt, and fur scarf from the Fall/Winter 1998 Ready-to-Wear Collection. The blazer was modeld on the runway in blue. Click here for image.
The single-breasted lamb skin leather blazer features structured shoulders and oversized peak lapels. The design is finished with a three-button front closure, welt chest pocket, and flap waist pockets. Clean vertical seams create a streamlined, tailored fit. The interior is lined in coordinating deep red acetate satin. The Givenchy label is sewn into the interior and marked with a size 40 and "Made in France."
The red silk top features an elegant draped construction with a softly gathered high neckline that falls into layered asymmetrical panels across the bodice, creating fluid movement and dimension. The lower half is finished with horizontal ruching. The back features a central zipper closure.
The ensemble comes with a long red fur scarf.
McQueen took inspiration for the collection from a holiday in San Francisco, where he was drawn to the city's F-Line trams. Their bright red and chrome colors reminded him of Ridley Scott's 1982 film Blade Runner. The collection's shape, form, and overall mood were inspired by Rachael, the android replicant from the film.
