Chuck Webster (American, b. 1970), "Bridge." Oil on wood panel.
H 48-1/4 x W 36 in.
About the Artist: Chuck Webster is a Brooklyn-based painter whose work is held in the permanent collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Baltimore Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, and the Dallas Museum of Art, among others. Recipient of the Rosenthal Family Foundation Award in Painting from the American Academy of Arts and Letters and a Fellow of the American Academy in Rome, Webster works in a highly personal abstract vocabulary that New York Times critic Roberta Smith described in 2012 as "little big paintings" with "a strange, irrepressible scale, a largeness that exceeds their size and creates a distinctive, slightly comedic sense of intimacy."
