About the Artist: Peter Stroud was a British-born painter and sculptor associated with the Constructivist and systematic abstraction movements, who taught at Bennington College in Vermont before joining the faculty at Rutgers University, where he spent the remainder of his career. His paintings are characterized by precise geometric structures, optical rhythm, and a rigorous investigation of color relationships within self-imposed formal systems. His work is held in the collections of the Tate, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, among others.
