This mid-19th-century ironstone sauce tureen was manufactured by John Alcock between 1853 and 1861. The elegant piece features a classic ribbed form accented by graceful acanthus-style handles and is topped with a detailed flower bud finial on its coordinating cover. The tureen measures approximately 6 3/4 in. H x 8 1/4 in. W x 5 in. D, exhibiting wonderful historical character with characteristic age-related crazing and brilliant discoloration throughout; the original ladle is absent.
