Description
This large mid-19th-century ironstone platter was produced by prominent English potter James Edwards (1805–1867), who is credited with introducing and heavily marketing the first white ironstone china to the North American market in 1842. The substantial piece features a classic octagonal streamlined form with clean lines. The platter measures approximately 1 3/4 in. H x 13 3/4 in. W x 17 5/8 in. D, displaying authentic period character with rich crazing and age-appropriate discoloration throughout consistent with its long history of use.
