This rare early folk art doll, originating from the Southern United States and attributed to the Civil War era based on accompanying provenance notes, was handmade for Mrs. Minnie M. Greene of Atlanta, Georgia, by Grandmother Cummings. The doll features a distinctive, hand-carved and polychrome wooden face and is dressed in period-appropriate formal attire consisting of a tailored black fabric suit. The piece measures approximately 4 in. H x 1 1/2 in. W. It is in good antique condition, displaying authentic surface wear and charming evidence of early domestic craftsmanship consistent with its long history and heritage.
