The glaze layer is thick, covered with densely interwoven natural ice?crack crackle. Earth?buried patina of varying depth has accumulated within crackle fissures, testifying to long?term aging.The flat base retains multiple fine spur marks from full?glaze spur?supported firing, exposing pale?white body clay, a hallmark of this firing technique. Native tiny black and brown specks scattered across the glaze are inherent kiln?firing characteristics. Glaze at the rim is slightly thinned with natural age wear.
