Its neck rises powerfully, ears laid back, and eyes rendered with expressive detail. Mane hair is incised in fine layered lines flowing along the sides of the neck. Musculature is realistically modelled with full, robust shoulders and chest, rounded haunches, and slender yet vigorous limbs firmly planted on hooves for a lithe, expansive posture. Fine incised scroll?cloud and foliate motifs spread across the entire body, following the horse’s anatomical contours with delicate, fluid linework. The design balances naturalistic observation and artistic exaggeration; anatomical proportions are convincing, muscle and bone structure convincingly conveyed. Unlike plain unadorned bronze horses, this example bears dense incised scroll?cloud ornament extending across head, neck, shoulders, torso and limbs. The horse was formed through multi?part mould assembly. A basal casting aperture was reserved for core removal and pouring, with hollow interior to reduce weight. Facial features, mane and decorative patterns were executed by post?casting cold?incised engraving to produce fine scrolling ornament. Turquoise?green corrosion layers, grey?black oxidation and earth?yellow staining formed naturally within burial conditions. Mould?join lines are discernible across the body, and the basal casting aperture retains original manufacturing features, faithfully documenting casting techniques for large hollow animal?form bronzes of the Warring?States?Han period.
