Description
This early 20th-century optometrist trial lens set comes housed in its original velvet-lined carry case featuring a red silk corner ribbon stamped "KING'S CROWN" and an interior brass maker's plate for the "Julius King Optical Co." of Chicago and New York City. The set features a comprehensive array of brass-rimmed trial lenses set into labeled wood trays, an adjustable metal trial frame spectacle, wire-rim eyeglasses, a handheld optical mirror, and an original cloth lens cleaner from "Millard Optical Service - Dr. Chas. Grousl" of Chicago, IL. Overall, the piece displays age-appropriate wear, including surface rust and patina on the trial frames and metal lens rims, foxing and staining on the cleaning cloth, and rough exterior condition with heavy scuffing, edge wear, tears, and peeling to the leatherette case. The lens set appears nearly complete, with only two designated slots missing their lenses. H 3.25", W 21.75", D 14". Please see photos for condition.
