Manufactured by the Rochester Electric Specialty Co., Inc. of Rochester, New York, and patented on September 3, 1907, this fascinating early 20th-century "hydro-electric" medical kit represents the height of the era's physical therapy and patent medicine movement. The device was designed to attach directly to a standard household water faucet, utilizing the water's flow and pressure to spin an internal turbine generator to produce a mild therapeutic electrical current. This remarkably comprehensive set includes the nickel-plated turbine generator unit with its faucet attachment, two cylindrical metal hand grips with black composition handles, two flat nickel-plated bath anode plates, two round sponge electrodes, two rubber faucet washers, and the original green fabric-covered connecting cords. The entire outfit is housed in its original finger-jointed oak wood case featuring a brass clasp and an intact paper instruction label under the lid. Objectively, the kit is in excellent, well-preserved vintage condition; the wooden case shows minor surface scuffs and minor water staining to the interior wood and label paper, while the metal components display strong, highly polished surfaces with only light oxidation and minor plating wear on the bath plates.
