Description: A large American Classical overmantel mirror of broad architectural form. The projecting stepped cornice surmounts a convex frieze applied with grouped oval ornaments. Square rosette blocks cap engaged turned columns at the ends, while two slender baluster-form dividers articulate the three rectangular mirror plates. The lower rail is enriched with a continuous molded foliate band, and the corner plinths have fan-carved roundels. Contrasting gilt and silvered decoration accents the applied turnings and ornament.

Condition
Frame is structurally intact overall. Scattered gilt and silvered surface wear, rubbing, scratches, abrasions, small chips, and localized losses throughout. Open joints and shrinkage cracks are visible, particularly at the projecting cornice ends and corner blocks. The lower composition border has scattered chips and losses. Mirror plates show haze, spotting, scratches, and age-related silvering deterioration. The vertical softwood backboards appear later or replaced, with later screws, fasteners, and hanging hardware.
