The letters are addressed to civil engineer and director of the Adelphi Charles Manby, thanking him for numerous favours, including one done to a common acquaintance ("You do her much in a sort of restoration of credulity in the general benevolence of human nature"), mentioning her work ("I know not how long ago, I sent Mr Webster a Drama I had written, entitled The Serf czarina. it was very pretty and pathetic and novel then, but now, from the involvements if the Turco-Russ affair, 'tis the very thing to catch the huge staring eye of the public"; "Do you know Mr Buckstone of the Haymarket, and do you think there would be any chance of his accepting the piece, with the character of the Marchioness elaborated to a much higher degree of tragic emphasis for performance by Miss Cushman?"), discussing gossip ("Did the rustic drama go off well on Monday night? I have not seen anyone who knows, and my oracle, the Times, has never a word on the subject. That looks suspicious!"), and various subjects, 32 pages in total, some soiling and age-related discolouration, 8vo, 12 July 1853- 29 May 1859 (8)
