Churchill (Winston Spencer) Autograph letter signed ("Winston S. Churchill")

The letter, to Conservative politician George Wyndham and marked 'Private', reads " I have to speak in Dundee on the 8th and 9th of October, but otherwise shall make no engagements in Scotland before the end of the year. Certainly I should not make any speech in reference to the Edinburgh University elections, as I fully share your views in respect of such contests. I will therefore gladly subscribe to our proposition. These elections are very rowdy affairs and I am not at all impressed with their utility. Do not however, I pray, reveal this opinion until after the declaration of the poll", with P.S. saying "I hope the polo week will go off well", two pages, punch holes to upper left corner not touching the text, collector's annotation in pencil, slight discolouration, 8vo, Blenheim Palace, 11 August 1908.

***On the very same day Churchill wrote this letter, he also successfully proposed to Clementine Hozier during a house party at Blenheim Palace.
