JAMES BOWDOIN SIGNED LETTER
July 22nd, 1776, letter from James Bowdoin to Josiah Little regarding obligations of what is due on Josiah's father and Col Joseph Gerrish's bond, James Bowdoin II (1726-1790) was a prominent American merchant, politician, and scientist from Massachusetts who served as Governor of the Commonwealth and is the namesake of Bowdoin College. Letter dated Boston, July 22, 1776. Name to bottom left, Josiah Little (1747-1830) of Newbury, Massachusetts had many investments in Maine land, was a representative to the Massachusetts General Court and a supporter of Bowdoin College.
