Offered are three vintage 1970s handcrafted glazed and textured stoneware goblets from the studio of Bonnie Staffel in Charlevoix, Michigan. Wheel-thrown with solid post bases. Each goblet is decorated with a similar Art Nouveau-inspired design. The plum-colored areas were created through a resist technique that exposes the underlying clay surface and are therefore rougher in texture.

Each chalice measures approximately 7.25" tall x 3.25" diameter.

A native of Toledo, Ohio, Bonnie Staffel was born in 1921, and passed away in 2020 at the age of 98 after a long and celebrated career as a studio artist, first starting out with a studio in her basement in the 1950's. In 1964 she and her husband bought an old farmhouse and barn in Charlevoix , Michigan for her studio and shop where she became a huge influence to other artisans in the northern region of the state, inspiring many other potters to move to the same area. Through the years Bonnie also had numerous residencies, including teaching pottery in Denmark, and a position as resident potter at the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, North Carolina where she later became the program director.
