19th century mahogany bedside commode cabinet of compact upright form, featuring a two-door upper cupboard above a large pull-out lower compartment. The upper cabinet opens to a deep storage interior, while the lower section pulls forward and incorporates a hinged lift-top, a configuration traditionally associated with bedside commode or chamber furniture. The piece is fitted with brass hardware, including a central cabinet knob and substantial bail handles to the front and sides, and stands on straight square legs. The mahogany retains a warm dark finish with visible grain throughout. Condition shows considerable age and use, including scratches, scuffs, finish wear and losses, surface abrasions, interior staining and finish deterioration, separation and wear to some joints, and a notable loss/damage at the upper left front corner.
