A 1981 gravity-driven wall clock produced by The Franklin Mint in collaboration with the Royal Geographical Society and horologists Thwaites & Reed Ltd. The timepiece features a spherical brass globe movement that descends along a vertical wall plaque. The globe is decorated with an etched historical map, sailing vessels, and sea monsters, and features a horizontal silver-tone chapter ring with black Roman numerals. The brass dial plate is marked with printed text reading THE FRANKLIN MINT, THWAITES & REED LTD., and England. The lower portion of the brass backplate is etched with a compass rose and a decorative banner featuring the Latin motto SIC PARVIS MAGNA, which is supported by two blowing figures and nautical motifs. The upper section of the plaque features an etched portrait of Sir Francis Drake within a circular cartouche.
