This specialized woodworking tool is designed for planing both concave and convex surfaces. The adjusting mechanism is operated by a large cast-metal knob at the front, which is linked to a series of gears and arms that curve the sole to the desired arc. The plane features a mahogany or rosewood rear tote handle secured to the cast body. On the upper surface of the black-finished cast iron frame, the characters NO and 113 are cast in raised relief. The front adjustment knob features raised lettering around the perimeter reading STANLEY RULE & LEVEL CO. The internal components include a metal frog, a lever cap, and a cutting iron.
