A collection of glass lantern globes intended for railroad use, consisting of one bright ruby red globe and three deep, dark ruby red globes that appear near-opaque in low light. The bright red globe features a tapered, bulbous form. It is embossed on the side with a maker name in an oval cartouche reading DIETZ, followed by FITZALL and NEW YORK USA. The reverse of the same globe is embossed with C. C. above LOC-NOB and the patent date PATD 3-10-14. The remaining three globes in the collection possess a more pronounced flared upper rim and a slightly different profile than the Dietz example, characterized by a deep, dark red glass that shows a subtle iridescence and blue-purple undertones under bright light.
