Japanese porcelain set was imported and retailed by the prominent New York goods firm A.A. Vantine & Co., comprising a matched service of nine delicate hand-painted teacups and their corresponding saucers. The delicate forms are exquisitely embellished with traditional floral and butterfly motifs, accented by rich hand-applied cobalt blue and raised gilt detailing. An individual saucer measures approximately 1/2 in. H x 4 3/4 in. in diameter overall, with proportional dimensions for the remaining service pieces. The set is offered in overall fair condition with some minor chipping.
