Vibrant still life oil painting on linen is executed by Laura E. Blackshear (Annie Laura Eve Blackshear, 1875-1967), a native of Augusta, Georgia, who served as an illustrator for the agricultural department at Georgia State College and founded the Athens Art Association as a prominent member of the Association of Georgia Artists of Savannah. The composition depicts vibrant irises in a vase rendered in an expressive color palette. Housed in a dark wood frame, it measures approximately 36 1/8 in. H x 22 in. W x 1 in. D overall, with condition disclosures including some discoloration and toning to the reverse, minimal wear to the frame, and natural patina to the stretcher, consistent with historic Southern fine art production, regional Impressionism, and fine art collection.
