Description
Striking late 19th-century portrait depicting a young Southern soldier, executed as an enhanced photograph, a popular period technique combining photography with hand-applied drawing and pigment to create a more lifelike likeness. The sitter is portrayed with a thoughtful, somber expression and dressed in military attire. Housed in an antique gilt frame. Measures approximately 22 in. H x 18 1/8 in. W x 7/8 in. D overall. Good overall condition with toning and surface wear to the paper and applied pigment consistent with age.
