Fine Southern 19th century bonnet chest of drawers originates from South Carolina, featuring a rich walnut primary case constructed with secondary yellow pine framing and drawer linings. The cabinetwork exhibits expert hand-dovetailed drawer construction and traditional pegged joinery, accented by inlaid wood keyhole escutcheons and Federal-style eagle brass hardware. The case rests gracefully on bracket feet. It measures approximately 45 1/4 in. H x 42 in. W x 20 5/8 in. D overall, with visible old professional repairs and replacements to the bracket feet consistent with centuries of historic use.
