Striking large-scale oil painting on panel by American master artist, muralist, and trompe l'oeil painter Joseph Yznaga Regan (born 1936) depicts a medallion with cats and grotesque classical figural men arranged in a circular arrangement against a central night sky with heavenly figures. Executed with meticulous detail and fine draftsmanship characteristic of the artist's esteemed figurative and decorative works, the substantial panel measures approximately 38 1/8 in. x 1 in. D. It is offered with some surface wear.
