Description
19th-century salt-glazed stoneware storage jar was produced by potter Alexander Conrad at the historic Monongahela Pottery in New Geneva, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, during the 1870s. The compact vessel features a classic utilitarian form enhanced by a textured salt-glazed surface and distinct cobalt-blue brushwork lettering identifying the maker. It measures approximately 7 1/2 in. H x 5 in. in diameter overall. It shows little wear with two holes in base.
