Historically significant handcrafted child's chair showcases the distinctive shaved wood construction characteristic of the renowned African American Hunter family tradition of the American South. The rustic vernacular form features a classic shaped ladder-back design fitted with slender shaved chair finials, slightly tapered shaved legs, and a tightly woven natural fiber seat. It was featured at the McKissick museum in Columbia, SC. It measures approximately 27 3/4 in. H x 15 3/8 in. W x 12 1/2 in. D overall, with a comfortable seat height of approximately 12 7/8 inches.
