Folk art pottery sculpture depicts a magnificent rooster, master-thrown and hand-modeled by celebrated Georgia folk potter Charlie West of Gillsville, Georgia. The sculptural avian form is enriched with intricate incised sgraffito decoration defining the textured plumage, crest, and eye, finished with a vibrant multi-colored drip glaze featuring soft greens, earthy reds, and rich cobalts over the robust earthenware body. The base bears the artist's incised signature. It measures approximately 17 1/4 in. H x 6 in. W x 9 1/2 in. D overall. It is offered in fair condition with one area of loss to plumage.
